| | | Hey y’all – since this post will make reference to the Look-a-Like contest, I’d appreciate it if if you guys could cross-post this for me to the Look-a-Like Official Forum, lj community. & wherever else it’s gotta go. It’s part information & part Linsner.com love letter to all our Goddesses, & it’s looooooong.
Why, o why, is there no Dragon*Con listed in the appearances on the Linsner.com website? My gosh, are Team Linsner not doing Dragon*Con??
Inconceivable!. Joe, Eva, Zeke, Cyndee & Greg, an almost complete Team Linsner lineup, will be at Dragon Con, Sept. 1st-4th 2006, in Atlanta, GA.
Traditionally, I don’t put the appearance in until after I have spoken with the show’s director about the show for that year, & then when I post, I can add more details.
Well, I have had that talk with him & all is good. So now it’s an official update time.
Looks like the host for this year’s Look-a-Like Contest will not be Voltaire, but the host that started it all, Anthony Daniels. Mr. Daniels is witty, urbane & charming, & as much as I will miss Voltaire’s crooning during the judge’s deliberations, I think we have a great show lined up for you all this year.
For anyone who was in the very first contest & recall Mr. Daniels showing up an hour-&-a-half late, not to worry. Apparently his being on time is written right into his agreement.
The celebrity judge is a real thrill for Joe. Joe doesn’t watch much TV, y’see, but the shows he likes, he really likes. This is true of Project Runway, which he got me to watch an episode of, & I will guiltily (given my usual snooty position on TV) admit was fun watching. But as anyone who knows Joe knows, his ultimately favorite television show is Mythbusters.
Thus, it gives me great pleasure to say; I believe the Celebrity Judge for this year’s Dawn Look-a-Like Contest is gonna be Tory Belecci of the Build Team from Mythbusters. 100% confirmation to follow, but I’m 98% sure that’s who it is gonna be.
This next bit is of particular importance to potential Dawn Look-a-Like contestants, so please listen up.
Last year in particular, & for a couple of years prior, various women have had technical problems with their audio presentations, mostly with the volume.
I remember with great empathy for the young lady involved, that a contestant had done a carefully blocked audio presentation, of Dawn at the gates of hell, a scene from Lucifer’s Halo. Poor woman kept her control (for which I clapped furiously), but I could tell it cost her great effort to not break down onstage as she mouthed words that couldn’t be heard by the audience. (BTW, if she happens to be reading this, please drop me an Email, I lost your contact info!)
On that front (& let that one story serve as a representative of all the backstage issues of contests past) I have two excellent developments to report.
#1. Part of the problem with the audio at previous contests, is that folks would submit audio in various formats - CD's, DVD’s, someone brought a cassette. There will be a universal audio format everyone is gonna have to adhere to. I will have word on what it is – CD/CD-Rom seems the obvious choice. But again, as soon as I have 100% confirmation, I will let you all know.
#2. There was a woman who was essentially running backstage last year, but she was a rookie & had just been thrown into the job last minute. I remember thinking she was pretty together & levelheaded, despite all she had to cope with, when I met her. Her name is Cat, & backstage again has an official manager. I am very pleased to see that torch passed on. I will post her Email address in our Look-a-Like page as soon as I get it from Dragon*Con.
Part of making your contest run go smoothly is up to you all. Try to make sure not t

| | | Sounds great to me. I love the Mythbusters and seeing the 3 build team members is part of what sealed me in for going this year (just got my membership and hotel) as well as seeing all the Linsner.com members and Team. (Are board members still invited to the after party?)
I can't wait to see you all there. Thanks for the update :)
(The only thing I have to point out in your post is you set the dates for Sept. 4th – 6th 2006, but the Dragon*Con website has them listed as the 1st-4th.) "When God gives you AIDS... Make lemonaids" -Sarah Silverman

| | | Thanks for the update, Eva, as a good lil minion I've posted it over in the LJ community.
Good stuff indeed! I've heard all sortsa rumours about Anthony Daniels, so it'll be interesting to see how much truth is in them.
Really looking forward to this year's contest! Carpe Noctem, Dementia

| | | Dementia: Thanks much for the reposting, & please make sure you fix the dates in the reposts, as Tim was right & I screwed up. I'm looking forward to it too. You looked so fabulous as Crimson Majesty, Jess, I wonder what you will come up with now?
Uglysad: Good catch! Thanks. I've been posting a lot lately, sometimes it's hard to get all the fine details in order before the edit read. Cheers mon. As far as I know, Linsner.com board members are still invited to the party, but Cyndee will give us more detail on that as we get closer to that date. I know that if that is the case, likely you will have to notify her in advance of your plans to attend.

| | | Hey Eva! Thanks for the update on the contest. Looking forward to being there finally!
Regarding the lady with the Lucifer's Halo presentation: I don't know her, but I do know someone who was directly involved with it, and I passed on your message to her. Hopefully you'll get a response soon.
Also looking forward to the contact info for the techie people...actually have a question that if it's entered before I get to Atlanta, it would make my life a lot simpler :) Of course, now I'm going to be hearing C3PO in my head when I'm working on the presentation

Funny thing about Crimson Majesty, When I was trying to decide which Dawn to do, everyone was saying Crimson Majesty, and ROB of all people was telling me no way. Men ;) (Although Super Dawn has been my fave). This year is gonna be a lotta fun though.
I'll fix the dates. :)

I'm sure someone's email will get to you faster, but this way, someone new might stumble on it if they are browsing the forums.

| | | Hooray! Reading your post gave me butterflies of nerves and anticipation, Eva. I can't wait to enter for the first time this year!
And I'm most pleased to hear about the host. No twirling, I hope ;) "Nudity is fine. But, if everyone is naked, it's the costumes that rule the stage..." --Dita Von Teese

| | | Hello again kiddies,
There will be much more Dragon*Con news by the end of this week. Stay tooned! Sorry for the delay - my eyeballs hurt from all that driving (just got back from Chicago).

My sympathies on the driving...Nightwalker and I drove from San Francisco to LA and back this weekend...both red-eye jaunts. The drive down wasn't too bad, but the return trip was wretched.
And Yay DragonCon stuff! I know from reading the LJ that a bunch of people are working really hard to get stuff together for this year....it's gonna be astounding.

| | | I'm more of a lurker on the Dawn LJ, haven't jumped in and made an account there yet, but I've been checking the posts daily, and I'm also excited about what people have planned!
And I can't wait to see the update, Eva! Get some rest for now though :) "Nudity is fine. But, if everyone is naked, it's the costumes that rule the stage..." --Dita Von Teese
