Guess what happens in 5 little days, y'all? (I am counting as of tomorrow morning.)

DARK IVORY #1 WILL EXIST AS A COMIC BOOK. That you can like, buy. I'm still trying to wrap my head around that. I'll be holding its smooth glossy pages in my sweaty girl geek hands.

We've been talking about it for soooo long. It's just weird.

- and just WAIT 'til you guys see #2..ai yi yi.

Congrats and Good Luck Eva. I hope she does really well. It sounds like she's a real labor of love. I have been waiting since I bought Dark Ivory 0. I can't wait.

On another subject. The Dark Ivory Spikes COJ I bought is incredible. It looks even better in person. I just need the Dark Ivory statue now to go with it.

If you could see the future, but couldn't do anything to change it. Would you still want to know?

Mere days away from a new beginning. I am pretty geeked.

It has felt really good doing some comics again. I have 10 million stories that I wanna tell, and I have got to get them out there somehow.

And it has been great working with Ms. Hopkins :)

All things in time...

Obsidian Stone, anyone?

Yeah, it takes me a long time to get to stuff. But it eventually DOES come out! I could name 2 dozen dream projects from my fellow professionals which i am certain won't be hitting the shelves anytime soon. I rub elbows with these guys, and everyone has some dream project that they are gonna get to "once they find the time..."

Simple truth -- you need to bite the bullet and MAKE THE TIME.

2008 is the year of Dark Ivory.

2009 is Dawn's 20th. So we'll see some Dawn stuff.

2010...

Only Arthur Clark knows about that one.

Hi everybody,

DARK IVORY is in comic book shops TODAY. Right now. Why are you still sitting here reading this, when you should be trotting off to the store to pick yours up? Just look for this HOT cover:

Thanks for your support in the years - YEARS - it took to see things happen. I know I've been blabbing about it pretty much non-stop, & I think it's great that so many of you are interested.

I hope you like reading it almost as much as I enjoyed helping create it.

OK, back to work on DI 2. & @ 11 am, I am off to my local comic book store. I will be catching up on many Emails I owe people later this week.

I hope to see many of you soon, at all the conventions Joe & I will be doing!

Cheers,

Ms. Eva

our diamond shipment will be in within the hour and the first thing i plan on doing is reading Dark Ivory :) One of the many joys of working behind the counter, lol. I get to read all the great stories hours before everyone else.

We open at 1PM (small town means fewer hours open) but I know that all five copies that we ordered should sell by tomorrow night without a problem.

Loved it! Grabbed mine almost right out of the shipping box today- beautiful cover and a nice big book. I like the story so far and I'm most happy about amount of dialogue to artwork, a perfect combination. It's great to have an entire Linsner book again with a new character and now with Eva's personal touch as well. Can't wait for the next installment! Good job people!Big Grin

I hope this means that the Aussie book stores will also have them in today (or will we be made to wait a little longer?) Either way, can't wait, and congrats again!

It sounds like a lot of stores under ordered on this. I know a store just outside of Columbus where I live that I know would have ordered a bit heavy on this because they have a linsner section. At least they used to, I just haven't managed to get out there yet.

I'm suprised a store would only order 2 copies. I'd have thought this would be a 10-20 copy purchase.

I remember that time too. I also remember having a warehouse full of Pitt #2 because it was so late when it finally shipped it was made returnable. I remember some stores would order no less than 1,000 on any early image #1. It was nuts. Valiant book orders were crazy too during that time. My logic on this one though had nothing to do with it being a #1. If I had a store I'd have ordered a little heavy because people buy books with good art and good stories and I would want at least a few to have around for back issue sales after #2 hit. If a retailer know's their customers they know who they can recommend the book to as well. I could see issue #2 having a larger print run though. Any retailer caught short on this one won't make the same mistake twice.

I will finally be going to get my copy tomorrow. I have to drive an hour to get it (hour there, hour back actually) so I had to wait until the weekend.

My comic store here is a big, busy shop, and they only had about 8 more copies when I picked mine up on Wednesday. I don't know how many they ordered though............

The shop I go to had nearly 15 copies on the shelf when I went Wednesday. I went back today for something else, checked to see how many they still had, and there were just two left...

Eva and Joe, be careful, I think you just may have a hit on your hands....

For some of the people posting it sounds like the retailers had no idea... For the area I'm in, the ordering is more so according to that tastes of the person ordering and the obvious selling books. Anything new is secondary.

For any shop owners/workers out there not fitting in this category, notice that I said 'in my area'...

BTW, checked the book out, and I was surprised. The previews that were shown did not really convey how the book was gonna pan out. I was expecting something to actually "happen" to Ms. Fontaine in the first issue besides what does happen, but other than that I have to say it's pretty real... Dialogue includes up to date stuff that definitely adds a familiarity that makes the story more real--I've heard some of that stuff either actually said or something close. The coloring is more moody and fits each setting--like the greenish cast in the skin tones in Sampson's room. It makes the book feel more like looking at storyboards for a movie. Good job, Eva & Joe! Plus, Jeff does an excellent job with his lettering placement and stylings--I don't think I would change a thing--it just works.

Excellent work, guys!

Well Eva, I got the book, read it, and all I gotta say it what a big steaming pile of.....awesomeness. Big Grin

I really like the pace of the book so far along with the introduction of characters. You give us a little without giving it all away. The dialog between Ivory and Samson seems genuine and real, not forced or cheesy as I have seen in some other comics. The last panel was good too, not a huge cliffhanger, but enough to get me to say "ooo, who are these guys". Great job Eva, Oh, and the pictures are nice too.LOL
