'cause that's what we are. Sure we are a business, but one that is deeply proud of the community we have created.
Someone very proud of what he shared with you all was our dear departed Zeke Feldhaus. Zeke loved his job. We could never have paid him what he was worth, but without him, we would not have been able to get so much beautiful art & art goodies into the hands of people who appreciated it. As he would like to say - packed with pride. He was friends with so many of you. His red Converse hi-tops will be hard to fill.
Zeke leaves his loving family behind him: his great love, Helen, & his young son, Jake. Many of you have asked how you can reach out & connect with Jake & Helen, because you too, loved Zeke so much. What can you do for them, you've asked. It's hard; the service is family only. We should respect that. This is hard enough for them.
Rather than donate to a charity, here's the truth: college is pricey. Zeke wanted Jake to go to college. I would therefore like to suggest the beginning of the Zeke Feldhaus Memorial Fund. If you were planning on sending flowers (flowers? For ZEKE? C'mooon...) or making a donation to the Cancer Society, do this instead - send a check or Money Order to my PO Box, made out to HELEN KLEINMAN-FELDHAUS. Remember: mail it to me (we don't want the Feldhaus home address circling the Web), but, make the check or MO out to HELEN KLEINMAN-FELDHAUS.
Guys - I don't ask you for much. I'm not a cup-rattling kinda gal. But here it is, a moment where I want you to give, & even if you can't do $5.00, go buy a card & mail it. Let Helen know that Zeke was loved, & that all the time he gave us was so very, deeply, appreciated & precious. Let her know we're here for her & Jake, that they are not alone.
One last time, check or money order should be made out to:

| | | Another idea might be, if you have an ebay seller's account, auction artwork (or whatever else you may have) yourself, and send along the money from that sale. It's probably the fastest way, even do a Buy It Now for a quicker turn-around. Then just mail in whatever money is made from your sale.

If you really can't send a card (though as mentioned above, I think the tactile sensation of opening a card, the cheer of the kind thoughts therein as well as the physical handling of the checks, would be comforting) and you just GOTTA PayPal instead: she got a PayPal address set up! Nobody has a lotta loose cash right now. The economy has been giving us a drubbing. I think this is a case where every single penny is gonna count. Back when I had fancy coffeehouse coffee, that stuff can be $4 - $5 for a latte. So: snooty coffees for a couple of weeks? Or - $50.00 to a grieving friend? That's an easy one. $5.00, $10.00, every single bit will add up. Don't feel like anything would be too small. I know we're not all Rockerfellers here.
You artsy & crafty types, also: if you want to eBay something & then send her the proceeds, make sure you include a note about Zeke so she knows what's up. That PayPal address, again, is:

None of the cards & checks will be put into her hands for about three weeks - a month. That's when Team Linsner assembles in North Jersey to move our stuff so we can reconfigure & reopen our web store. I will be pleased as anything to hand Helen & Jake a (hopefully big) stack of mail.
I'm still in favor of sending a card - even if it's just a card. I think it would be kind to Zeke's family. But I understand PayPal makes it easier for people, & I want the help to arrive ASAP.
Thanks for all the response so far, people. When I get back from the European cons, I hope my post office folks tell me I have so much mail they can't fit it into the box anymore.
Eventually, there will be a memorial print for Zeke, a hot babe riding a dinosaur, that Joe is gonna do. All proceeds from that will also be for Jake's college fund. But right now, this is the best way to help out. Dooo eeeeet.

I can put one of my fairy paintings into the auction and the money from that one painting will go towards Zeke's Memorial Fund...then I can paypal the money next week.

I am holding a stack of 14 cards to hand over to Helen tonight when Joe & I see her. I am sure her & Jake are grateful as hell for you guys remembering Zeke, & reaching out to them.
Thanks so much for your time & effort in remembering our fallen friend. & if it didn't work out that you can do so, thus far, I will continue to make sure that anything that comes to me for Helen & Jake will get to them. :)

I was worried that mine wouldn't make it in time. It's so great to find out that others also sent cards as well.
I had to wait to payday to donate via Paypal so I hope Helen checks her account sometime soon. Even though I still miss Zeke, it felt good to do something positive for his family.

Say gang! If someone didn't have the time or funds to drop a line to Helen & Jake as outlined above, let me remind you that the holiday season is a fine opportunity to do so. I'm sure the added surprise of getting a line or two from a F.O.Z. (Friend of Zeke) a little ways after the fact would also prove delightful.
I just received a card the other day which I am forwarding them tomorrow. :)
It's never too late to show some love to the family of our fallen friend. & thanks again to everyone who has chipped in thus far. It's deeply appreciated.
