Biography

Joseph Michael Linsner

In 1989 Joseph Michael Linsner created DAWN, a modern take on classic earth Goddess mythology. DAWN made her debut on the cover of Joe’s horror anthology CRY FOR DAWN. The smart, scary stories from Joe’s CRY FOR DAWN work are collected in the ANGRY CHRIST COMICS trade. Joe began exploring Dawn’s saga in the DAWN: LUCIFER’S HALO, DAWN: RETURN OF THE GODDESS & DAWN: THREE TIERS graphic novels, growing a devoted fan base along the way. In 2000, Joe did KILLRAVEN: 2020 through Marvel Knights. 2003 saw publication of THE ART OF JOSEPH MICHAEL LINSNER, which sold out instantly, & THE VAMPIRE’S CHRISTMAS, a black comedy & Linsner’s most critically acclaimed work. JML has done covers for all the big publishing houses, including cover art for issues #1 – 7 of Dark Horse’s CONAN THE BARBARIAN comics. In 2006 Linsner did the art for CLAWS, a Marvel mini-series featuring the Black Cat & Wolverine. Joe now has fans around the globe, & his work has been translated into Spanish, Greek, Italian & Dutch.

Dawn has become a true cult phenomenon, & her likeness has appeared on everything from mugs to mousepads, posters to stckers to tee shirts to tattoos to – well, you get the idea.

2007 is a huge year for Joseph Michael Linsner. As well as returning to Comic-Con International for the first time in 7 years, 2007 marks the 10th anniversary of the Dawn Look-a-like Contest, held annually at the fabulous Dragon*Con in Atlanta, GA. This year also sees the release of two dream projects for JML. The first, GIRLS & GODDESSES, a color hardcover pinup art book, is the result of a lifelong obsession with beauty. GIRLS & GODDESSES makes its debut in July. The second, DARK IVORY, is an unorthodox vampire love story. DARK IVORY is co-created by longtime Linsner collaborator EVA HOPKINS, & will be released in November 2007 from Image Comics.

Joe looks forward to Dawn’s 20th anniversary in 2009.

Born in Queens, New York, Joe has recently moved to the north Georgia mountains, where he lives with his two Sphynx cats.

Eva Hopkins

Eva Hopkins is the co-colorist on Dawn, co-creator of Dark Ivory, a busy artist & writer, & business manager for Linsner.com.

Eva began her collaboration with Joseph Michael Linsner in 1996, as his art assistant on DAWN: Lucifer’s Halo, erasing his pencils & coloring with Pantone alcohol markers. In 1997 she began doing contract negotiations, convention bookings & other business duties. Eva had deeper involvement with the DAWN: Return of the Goddess graphic novel, when her knowledge of pagan ways became very useful to helping Joe tell his Goddess story. When the art process began combining computer elements in DAWN: Three Tiers, Eva got promoted to co-colorist, as her mad Photoshop skills enabled her to get more involved in the creative process.

In 2005, Eva self-published FEAR OF FLIGHT, a B & W underground comics anthology that quickly sold out. She also established LUNA MUSE STUDIOS, where she occasionally blogs & posts pictures of her art & convention adventures.

Now Eva’s taking her next step up the ladder to co-creator, with Dark Ivory, a 4-issue mini-series due out in November 2007 from Image Comics. Featuring dazzling gothic art by longtime partner JML, Dark Ivory will be a vampire story good enough for folks who don’t usually like vampire stories.

Eva takes commission requests, but travels a lot over the spring & summer. The best time to hit her up for custom art or writing is fall & winter. She lives in upstate NY with her two nauseatingly adorable cats.

Greg Hinkle, the Linsner.com Webmaster, came to Linsner.com through the precipitous world of fandom. He enjoyed Linsner's art, & gallantly offered to JML to do his website for him, & thus the wonderful online community known as Linsner.com was born in 2000. Anytime you post on a message base here, or purchase anything from the Linsner.com online store, Greg is the guy who literally makes that happen.

Most folks' Webmasters only come out after dark & are shackled to their desktop PC's, coding until the wee hours of dawn, living off of a diet of stale nacho chips & desk-lamp-heated Cheez Whiz. But Greg has one of those...what do you call them..lives. He has taken his family of 4 great kids to Europe; knows how to cook actual meals; he games, reads novels, writes short stories, goes dancing, hashing & out to power metal concerts.

Greg lives in Northeastern Ohio, sometimes with Nick, Nora, Anna & Damian, his adorable children. He makes occasional appearances at conventions, where he will alternate between gaming and chatting the night away or going out dancing in some new city. If you have technical questions about the site, post a new message in the Linsner.com Experience message base. To contact Greg for fun, to share new music & recipes, Email - greg at linsner dot com.

He does now have two cats.
